The intaglio is carved into a domed carnelian cabochon which dates from the 1st Century AD - it's been set into a 15k gold Victorian ring mount
working with what materials they had to hand - brass shell cases and aluminium nose cones were commonly repurposed
Victorian Enamelled Yellow Poppy Heart Locket trench art It's beautifully craftedDATE: Victorian, c. 1880 A beautiful antique heart locket with guilloch enamelled front depicting a yellow poppy. The detail is incredible, and combined with the tricolour pastel coloured background (blue, yellow, pink), it's an incredibly attractive example. The locket opens to reveal two heart shaped compartments, and the reverse is engraved with the initials NL. Crafted in 9 karat gold, it dates from the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
