1900 Print Ermack Baltic Ocean Glacier Ice Crushing Ship Armstrong TSM1 BA1 This is an original 1928This is an original 1900 halftone print of the "Ermack" pushing through a heavy ice drift in the Baltic Ocean. The quadruple screw steamer "Ermack" was built in 1864 b Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth, and Company at Walker on Tyne and was based on the designs of Russian merchant Britneff. The ship was designed to crush icebergs with its own weight, which was estimated to be about 8,000 tons while carrying 3,000 tons of coal. This ship was 305 feet long
