The top stone is a transparent cabochon topaz, the bottom one is a ruby, both stones are synthetic (meaning they are a REAL ruby and a REAL topaz grown in a laboratory, not colored glass). the ruby is hidden or magnified by the topaz, depending on the angle from which the ring is observed. under the sun the fluorescence of the ruby is
