Antique Mutual Assurance Fire Mark wooden cart this piece was likely madeLate 19th Century Early 20th Century Cast iron fire mark for The Mutual Assurance Company for Insuring Houses from Loss by Fire, or "Green Tree Insurance Company" of Philadelphia. Cast iron plaques of varying designs would be affixed to buildings insured by different companies so that, in the event of fire, it could be deduced what, if any, insurance the owner had. This particular plaque was the symbol of the Mutual Assurance Company, in use from 1784
